چکیده

FK-037, a new parenteral cephalosporin, was tested against 483 organisms from clinical infections to establish preliminary susceptibility testing criteria with 30-micrograms disks. The proposed breakpoint zone diameters were > or = 17 mm (MIC correlate, < or = 8 micrograms/ml) for the susceptible category and < or = 13 mm (MIC correlate, > or = 32 micrograms/ml) for the resistant category. These interpretive guidelines produced no very major (false-susceptible) errors, 2.9% major (false-resistant) errors, and 6.2% minor errors for a total absolute agreement between methods of 90.9%.

Preliminary antimicrobial susceptibility interpretive criteria for cefetamet (Ro 15-8074) and cefteram (Ro 19-5247) disk tests.

Preliminary interpretive zone criteria were calculated for cefetamet (Ro 15-8074) and cefteram (Ro 19-5247) by using 10- and 30-micrograms disks and three possible MIC susceptibility breakpoints. Absolute interpretive agreement between MICs and zone size criteria ranged from 91.8 to 97.2%. Very major errors (false susceptibility) were less than or equal to 1.2% for both cephalosporin disk tests...

Disk diffusion test interpretive criteria and quality control recommendations for testing linezolid (U-100766) and eperezolid (U-100592) with commercially prepared reagents.

Two new oxazolidinones were tested to determine interpretive susceptibility testing criteria for MIC and disk diffusion methods. Commercial lots of linezolid (formerly U-100766) and eperezolid (formerly U-100592) disks containing 30 microg of drug were tested against 728 isolates of bacteria with defined mechanisms of resistance. Results from linezolid were highlighted because of its choice for...

Antimicrobial activity and disk diffusion susceptibility testing of Ro 40-6890, the active metabolite of the new cephalosporin ester, Ro 41-3399.

Ro 40-6890, the active metabolite of Ro 41-3399, was tested against 391 gram-negative and gram-positive clinical isolates. Ro 40-6890 was active against members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, Moraxella catarrhalis, pneumococci, other Streptococcus spp., and methicillin-susceptible staphylococci. Preliminary disk diffusion interpretive zone criteria were calculated for 5-, 10-, and 30-microgr...

Multicenter comparison of in vitro activities of FK-037, cefepime, ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, and cefuroxime.

In a multicenter study, the MICs of FK-037 for 90% of the strains tested (MIC90s) were < or = 1 microgram/ml for members of the family Enterobacteriaceae other than Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter spp., and Serratia marcescens. Activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa was variable, with a MIC50 and a MIC90 of 4 and 32 micrograms/ml, respectively. Relative to cefepime, however, FK-037 was less...

Proposed interpretive criteria and quality control parameters for ofloxacin susceptibility testing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

A multilaboratory study designed to determine the in vitro susceptibility criteria and quality control parameters for ofloxacin against Neisseria gonorrhoeae was conducted according to the guidelines of the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards. Proposed susceptibility breakpoints are MICs of less than or equal to 0.25 microgram/ml for the agar dilution test and greater than or e...
